While rapid modernization, international collaborations, and global benchmarking have opened new doors, a dangerous trend is emerging: an obsessive craving for rankings, degrees, and foreign tags, often at the cost of quality teaching, teacher well-being, and genuine learning. Are We Truly Focusing on Quality Education or Just Chasing Numbers? In the name of AICTE and UGC norms , NAAC accreditation , and NIRF rankings , higher education institutions in India are in a relentless race. While accountability and performance metrics are essential, they seem to have become ends in themselves , rather than tools for meaningful improvement.
